Curbside Pickup

Call When You Arrive
Patrons who have held material waiting for them can pick their items up curbside. When you arrive, park in a designated parking spot and call 503-873-5173 with your library card number to let us know you are here. The items will be checked out and brought out to you. We only have two phone lines but we try to keep conversations brief. If you get a busy signal, please call again.
Note: In inclement weather, your items will be placed on a table in front of the library under a canopy, and you can pick them up there. We will hold up a placard with your parking spot number when your items are ready for you to take.
Regular Curbside Pickup Hours:
Tuesdays 10:30am - 1:30pm
Wednesdays 2pm - 5:30pm
Thursdays 10:30am - 1:30pm
Fridays 2pm - 5:30pm
Saturdays 10:30am - 1:30pm
Here are some frequently asked questions about curbside pickup:
Is it safe?
Everything comes with some risk, but just like with homebound delivery all materials have been through at least a 72-hour quarantine. The library worker bringing items to you will be wearing a face covering and has either just sanitized their hands or put on a fresh pair of gloves (their preference) before bringing your bag to you. After they come back inside the library, they sanitize their hands again.
Can’t you just hand me the materials?
We cannot. One of the aims of curbside delivery is to follow social distancing and no contact protocols when serving you. For drive up deliveries, we need to place items in your trunk or popped hatchback, or in a place in your car at least three feet away from any person. If we cannot achieve this distance, we’ll place your items at the curb. After library staff have walked away, you may get out and retrieve your bag. Please refrain from getting out of your car and approaching library staff. If you’re doing walk up service, your items will be placed several feet away from you. After library staff have walked away, you may retrieve your bag of items.
Do I have to take a bag?
For safety reasons, we will be delivering your items to you in a bag. We try to choose the bag that is the most appropriate for the size of checkout the patron has. We now have reusable bags that we will place into quarantine when you return them to our book drop. You may ask for these specifically. We’re sorry but due to the risk of cross contamination, we cannot place items into a bag you provide.
Can’t I just hand you my items for return?
The good news is that if you’re already at the front of the library, you are very close to the book drop! To avoid cross contamination, we ask that all returned library materials (and bags for reuse) be placed by the patron into the book drop. Library staff are not able to take them from you directly.
What do you do to the items I have returned?
We place all returned library materials into quarantine for at least 72 hours.
