Library of Things: Canning and Preserving Equipment
Silver Falls Library’s Library of Things (LOT) offers you the chance to check out a variety of useful items. Some are items that most people need to use only once or rarely. Some allow you to “try before you buy” if you are considering a purchase.
The LOT Canning and Preserving Equipment was provided and funded by a grant received by the Oregon State University Extension Service. Go to the Silver Falls Library Reference Desk to checkout items in this collection. You will need to sign LOT User Agreement and Waiver forms before checkout.

Interested in checking out an item? Here is what you need to know:
- A valid, adult Silver Falls Library card with no outstanding fines above $50.00 is required to borrow a Thing.
- Equipment can only be checked out to patrons whose home library is Silver Falls Library (i.e. Oregon Library Passport cards are ineligible).
- Borrowers must be 18 years old or older.
- Borrowers must read, understand, and sign a LOT User Agreement and Waiver before they check out a Thing.
- Items must be checked out at and returned inside to the Silver Falls Library Reference Desk.
- Each cardholder may check out up to five items at time.
- Items check out for seven days, with 1 renewal, with the exception of the Fermentation Crock, which checks out for 35 days and no renewals.
- Items are expected to be returned clean and ready for use by another patron. Borrowers will be charged a $25 cleaning fee for items returned in need of cleaning.
